The Prothiri.  The Prothiri are a major artificially intelligent species within the "Beyond Forever" universe.  They are ancient and powerful, their own origins forgotten in time.  Originally created by a peaceful, nature-loving race on a now dead world, they were created using instruments of nature itself.  Their original form consisted of wood, rock, crystal, and many other such natural elements, thus giving each Prothiri mechanism a direct connection to the physical world around it.  But as time moved on, their construction became more sophisticated, implementing more complicated and sturdier materials.
         Now the Prothiri have evolved technologies to their ultimate form, and the central intelligence behind the cloth-like indestructible armor appears to be a form of living light.  Over time their directives have been corrupted by evil, and their missions appear to be those of destruction and deceit.  But could they be restored to their original mindset and become instruments of peace once again?  The answers are coming within the pages of "Beyond Forever: Tales of the Prothiri."  Story conceptualized by William J.
